Actors’ Equity Association is currently at the bargaining table with the Broadway League to determine the next iteration of the union's largest contract, which covers work on Broadway shows. It has been a difficult negotiation so far, with the League resistant to adequately addressing Equity’s top concerns of coverage, schedule and safety.

Workers at the Daily Press—a cafe and bar on Somers Street and Rockaway Avenue—announced Wednesday their intention to file for union recognition with Workers United NY/NJ. The move comes after Daily Press' owner in October announced "drastic and sudden" cuts to their hours. In response, the workers began to organize for a union to represent the eleven employees.
