NYC Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO Announces Third Round of Endorsements for 2025 NYC Primary Elections
NEW YORK, May 7, 2025 — The New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO (NYC CLC), representing 300 unions and more than one million registered voters in union households across New York City, today announced its third round of endorsements for the 2025 New York City primary elections. This slate builds on the first two rounds of endorsements released last month, and reflects the NYC Labor Movement’s ongoing commitment to supporting leaders who stand with working people. Each of the endorsed candidates has shown a commitment to policies that uplift working families and ensure that all New Yorkers can have the opportunity to live and thrive in our city.
Today’s endorsements include five additional candidates for New York City Council races as well as the race for New York City Comptroller. In the race for Manhattan Borough President, there was strong affiliate support for both candidates and as a result, the NYC CLC will not be making an endorsement. We look forward to working with whichever candidate is ultimately elected.
As always, the NYC CLC’s member-to-member political program, NYC LaborVotes!, will focus on educating and mobilizing union members and their families to make their voices heard at the ballot box. With working people facing ongoing economic challenges and political attacks on their rights, it’s more important than ever to elect leaders who will champion pro-worker policies.
“Working people are the backbone of this city, and they deserve elected officials who will fight alongside them,” said NYC CLC President Vincent Alvarez. “This latest round of endorsements reflects our ongoing commitment to electing leaders who share the values of the Labor Movement—fair wages and benefits, strong worker protections, the freedom to organize, and justice on the job and in our communities. These candidates have shown they’re ready to lead with working people at the center, and we’re proud to support them.”
Candidates seeking the NYC CLC’s endorsement participate in a rigorous process that includes a training session on the Labor Movement and the key issues affecting working people. They then interview with a panel of affiliate representatives and submit a detailed questionnaire before being considered for endorsement.
Today’s endorsements are as follows:
NYC Comptroller: Mark Levine
District 12: Kevin Riley
District 28: Tyrell Hankerson
District 33: Lincoln Restler
District 46: Mercedes Narcisse
District 48: Kayla Santosuosso
No endorsements on the following races:
District 4, District 21, and District 41
