NEW YORK, April 16, 2025 — The New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO (NYC CLC), representing 300 unions and more than one million registered voters in union households across New York City, today announced its second round of endorsements for the 2025 New York City primary elections. This new slate of eleven City Council candidates builds on the first round of endorsements released on Friday, and reflects the NYC Labor Movement’s ongoing commitment to supporting leaders who stand with working people. Each of the endorsed candidates has shown a commitment to policies that uplift working families and ensure that all New Yorkers can have the opportunity to live and thrive in our city.

As always, the NYC CLC’s member-to-member political program, NYC LaborVotes!, will focus on educating and mobilizing union members and their families to make their voices heard at the ballot box. With working people facing ongoing economic challenges and political attacks on their rights, it’s more important than ever to elect leaders who will champion pro-worker policies.

“Working people are the engine that keeps this city running, and they deserve elected officials who will fight alongside them,” said NYC CLC President Vincent Alvarez. “This second round of endorsements continues our effort to help build a City Council that reflects the values of New York’s Labor Movement, and that will fight alongside us for fair wages and benefits, strong labor standards, the right to join a union, and economic and social justice. These candidates have earned the trust of working people, and we’re proud to support them.”

Candidates seeking the NYC CLC’s endorsement participate in a rigorous process that includes a training session on the Labor Movement and the key issues affecting working people. They then interview with a panel of affiliate representatives and submit a detailed questionnaire before being considered for endorsement.

A final round of primary endorsements will be released in the coming weeks.
