Statement by President Alvarez on Expanded Paid Sick Days Legislation
New York - "As we continue the fight to improve conditions for workers, Paid Sick Leave remains an integral piece in our quest to create a more worker-friendly NYC," said Vincent Alvarez, President of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO.
"I commend Speaker Mark-Viverito and Councilmember Chin for standing up for the health and well-being of New York City's working men and women, and I applaud Mayor de Blasio for proposing that the city dedicate roughly $6.5 million over the next two years to help expand access. Just as the Central Labor Council and our allies fought tenaciously for the initial Paid Sick Days legislation, we will continue to support initiatives aimed at helping our city's working families."
