Understanding Safety Data Sheets
Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are supposed to provide workers with information on chemicals at the workplace, but are not necessarily easy to understand. SDSs are written by the manufacturer of the chemical and there is very little oversight of them. Given that, how can workers navigate through the SDSs? Monona Rossol is well recognized as an expert in chemical safety for workers and an advocate for making workplaces safer. In this forum, Monona will focus on:
What is the most important information to look for?
What makes a good SDS?
What makes a bad SDS?
Where can you get better or more information?
