Centennial Celebration of Labor Artist Ralph Fasanella

Celebrating Ralph Fasanella’s centennial, the Smithsonian Museum of American Art has mounted an exhibit of 17 paintings and 8 drawings by labor’s greatest artist .

A Special Reception for the Labor Movement

Please join New York City labor leaders, activists and all who share our vision for creating a better world to a reception to view the exhibit on November 12 at the American Folk Art Museum. Highlights of this magnificent show include “The Great Strike, Lawrence 1912,” “New York City,” and “Family Supper.”

Labor In the Schools

The reception will raise funds to purchase thousands of copies of the award-winning documentary, “Fasanella,” for area high schools

The $30 ticket fee purchases two DVD copies of “Fasanella”: one for the ticket holder and one for a high school classroom. We ask local unions and institutions to make larger donations to help us reach our goal of distributing 2,000 DVDs.

Faculty at Michigan State University has produced a companion classroom educators’ guide to help students learn more about the labor movement and labor history, and how to undertake oral history interviews.  The guide also encourages projects for students to create art and write essays honoring their ethnic heritage.  In the documentary, Fasanella declares: “We are all immigrants.  Honor your roots.”
