1199 and CLC Officials, Airport Workers Honored During 32BJ Black History Month/Women's History Month Celebration
At a special ceremony in celebration of both Black History Month and Women’s History Month, 32BJ SEIU honored several outstanding women in labor, politics and social justice. Award winners included 1199 SEIU Executive Vice President Neva Shillingford-King, NYC Central Labor Council Secretary-Treasurer Janella Hinds, New York City First Lady Chirlane McCray, New York City Public Advocate Tish James, New York Conference NAACP President Hazel Dukes, New Amsterdam News Publisher and Editor in Chief Elinor Tatum,and New York Taxi Workers Alliance founding member Bhairavi Desai.
The union also presented a special Proclamation honoring the women leaders of the New York-Area Airport Workers Campaign.
