Statement by NYC CLC President Alvarez on the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final
FIFA on Sunday announced that the Host Region of New York New Jersey (NYNJ) was awarded the rights to host the FIFA World Cup 26 Final and seven other matches throughout the tournament at New York New Jersey Stadium (MetLife Stadium) in East Rutherford, New Jersey. NYNJ will host eight total matches throughout the tournament including the Final, along with fan experiences throughout the NYNJ region.

"The nation’s greatest and most diverse workforce stands ready to welcome fans to the world’s biggest game. As planning accelerates, we are committed to working collaboratively with the Host Committee to ensure strong labor standards including good union jobs, fair living wages, local hiring, and meaningful health and safety protections for the thousands of workers in New York City and the region who will make this historic global event possible."
