IATSE Stands in Support of Actors’ Equity Association’s Tour Negotiations

Actors’ Equity Association, the national labor union representing more than 51,000 professional actors and stage managers in live theatre, has been bargaining with the Broadway League for over two months on an agreement for shows on tour.

Negotiations with the League have stalled over vital issues like fair wages, sufficient coverage and per diem rates that cover rising housing and food costs. 85% of Equity members currently on tour have signed onto a public letter urging the employers to collaborate with the union in good faith.

This week, IATSE issued a statement standing in solidarity with Actors’ Equity Association in pursuit of improved working conditions for touring workers.

“It’s time to Unite the Road, not just for Equity stage managers and actors, but for everyone who takes their skills and talents on tour to deliver exceptional live entertainment to audiences across the country,” said IATSE Assistant Stagecraft Department Director Stasia Savage. “This moment is one of unprecedented collaboration between unions, and there is broad consensus that workers require more for life on the road to be sustainable.” Read IATSE's full statement of support here.
