Striking Alabama Mineworkers Take Their Fight to NYC Hedge Fund

Over a thousand miners at Warrior Met Coal in Brookwood, Alabama have been on an Unfair Labor Practices strike since April 1, and you can help support them right here in NYC. Five years ago, the workers saw their pay drastically slashed, lost many of their paid holidays and some of their time off, lost their ability to earn overtime pay; and watched their health insurance costs go way up while safety standards and working conditions went way down. At the time, they accepted the subpar contract because the company was going through bankruptcy, but now that Warrior Met's finances have improved and profits are on the rise, the company is refusing to share the wealth with the workers who sacrificed to save it. And now, violence on the picket lines is escalating.
A group of Warrior Met strikers along with fellow mineworkers from Alabama, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio are coming to NYC to take their demands to Warrior Met's largest shareholder-- BlackRock Fund Advisors. BlackRock has made millions from the sweat and blood of these workers and their families, yet they refuse to be fair and recognize the sacrifices that made those billions possible. The strikers will be leafleting outside BlackRock on Wednesday, July 28, and are asking for supporters to come out and join them from 9am-12pm!
9am to 12pm: BlackRock Fund Advisors, 40 East 52nd Street
