Today’s Supreme Court decision confirms that the Trump administration’s effort to strip DACA protections from 700,000 young Americans was not only cruel but illegal. These young people who until today faced enormous uncertainty include thousands of workers across New York City, including front line and essential workers who are helping our communities respond to the Coronavirus pandemic.

The CLC applauds all of those who fought to keep DACA’s important protections, and recommits to the ongoing fight for comprehensive immigration reform, including a path to citizenship that will make those protections permanent. New York City’s Labor Movement is among the most diverse in the world, and we are committed to helping to ensure that every worker has the tools necessary to live with dignity, raise a healthy family, and have a voice at work.
