Call to Action: Let The Public Subsidy Board Know That Publicly Funded Projects Have to Pay Workers Prevailing Wages

Thanks to recent legislation in New York State, prevailing wage requirements are applicable on certain construction projects performed under private contracts. The goal was to expand prevailing wage to private projects receiving public subsidies and grow the middle class in our state.

However, the Public Subsidy Board is holding a hearing this Monday, May 20th that will impact the calculation of funds paid by a public entity that is used to determine which eligible projects are required to pay the prevailing rate. This would have negative impacts on projects qualifying for prevailing wages.

The NYS Building & Construction Trades Council is asking union workers in New York to let the board know that publicly funded projects have to pay workers prevailing rates.
