Climate Jobs NY Update: South Fork Wind Groundbreaking
This past Friday, Climate Jobs NY joined Governor Hochul, Sec. Haaland and our Wind Works Long Island partners in East Hampton to break ground on New York's first offshore wind project, South Fork Wind.
The clean energy economy is here and we are working to ensure strong labor standards and good union jobs in the industry. Our Regional Director, Mariah Dignan, joined the event and noted how “it is exciting to break ground on New York‘s first offshore wind project, and it is even more exciting that this is only the beginning. We have a generational opportunity to conceive an offshore wind industry that will create good union jobs, revitalize local manufacturing and secure a domestic supply chain for decades to come. Climate Jobs NY is eager to work with our environmental and industry allies to realize this evergreen industry on Long Island.”
South Fork Wind is a 130-Megawatt project that will power 70,000 homes in the South Fork of Long Island and create hundreds of good union jobs. Read more here.
