PSC-CUNY Rallies to #FreeTheFunds
Members of the Professional Staff Congress (PSC-CUNY), students and supporters gathered on Wednesday both at the gates of Brooklyn College and simultaneously via Zoom for a #FreeTheFunds: Beyond Racist Austerity Rally.
“There is no longer any excuse to increase class size for Brooklyn College students and trim our offerings. Whether in-person or remote, class size should return to pre-pandemic levels, if not lower, so that students can learn and instructors can teach more effectively,” said James Davis, newly elected PSC-CUNY President and former chair of the PSC chapter at Brooklyn College.
CUNY has over $800 million dollars of federal stimulus funds it has not released to the campuses. Brooklyn College should be getting over $50 million dollars, yet BC President Michelle Anderson continues to operate as though we are in austerity. This tremendous influx of federal funds represents a real opportunity to create the Brooklyn College of our Dreams. Take action by clicking here to send a letter to Chancellor Matos Rodriguez asking her to free the funds and and allow CUNY colleges to use the money to reverse the layoffs and cuts of the past year.
