Local 802 Philharmonic Members Give First Public Performance After 13 Month Hiatus
The re-opening of NYC live music, arts and culture is continuing as the New York Philharmonic gave its first public performance after a historic hiatus of more than 13 months. Orchestra members are covered under a union contract with Local 802. The orchestra performed at the Shed in Hudson Yards, about 2 miles from its home at Lincoln Center, which is undergoing renovations. "I’m kind of on a euphoric high right now, because I missed it more than I realized," Local 802 member and Philharmonic concertmaster Frank Huang told the A.P.
Local 802 has published Covid-19 Health & Safety Recommendations for Live Performance. Local 802 members who want to sign up for a free Covid vaccine appointment can click here.
