Recognizing Women of Labor: Cece Borcherding of UWUA Local 1-2
Continuing our celebration of Womens’ History Month, we are proud to honor the work of Cecilia “Cece” Borcherding, Executive Board Member of the Utility Workers Union of America, Local 1-2. Cece is the product of a hard-working union household. Her mother worked as a riveter in a factory during World War ll.
Having worked for Con Edison since 1980, Cece navigated a difficult workplace culture where women were routinely harassed and pressured to quit. Cece is an inspiring example of a strong and determined labor-union woman overcoming a male-dominated workplace to excel in her field and we salute her.
