NYC Building Trades Rally for Worker Safety
This week, members of several Building Trades unions rallied outside of 1 Wall Street to call out developer Gilbane for union-busting tactics and unsafe working conditions. Chants of "how many more must die" punctuated calls for safety on the job.
The Building Trades have escalated their campaign against Gilbane's practice of using non-union subcontractors for large-scale construction jobs. Workers on these jobs have been underpaid and are subject to unsafe conditions.
A moment of silence was then held for workers who have died while at work around the city.
