Operating Engineers Employed at City Schools Get Tentative Contract

This week, City Hall reached a tentative $248 million contract deal with IUOE Locals 891 and 94, which represent public school custodians, firemen, and  stationary engineers.

If approved, Local 891's agreement would cover the period between January of 2008 and December of 2015.  Local 94's contract would cover the period between October of 2007 and October of 2016.

Under the agreement, the Department of Education would also be permitted to open schools earlier during the week, and on Saturday morning.

The contract now awaits ratification by the unions' members.
