This week, a Macy’s strike was narrowly averted when RWDSU Local 1-S and Macy’s reached a tentative contract agreement. Workers at the flagship Herald Square store, along with others at locations in the Bronx, Queens and White Plains, New York, were prepared to strike, as well.
The contract now awaits ratification by Local 1-S membership.

On Thursday, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka announced the 12.5 million member Federation’s endorsement of Hillary Clinton for President. In a statement, President Trumka highlighted Clinton’s commitment to fighting for children and working families. President Trumka cited Clinton’s presence on union picket lines, and commitments to improved healthcare, and equality for all Americans.

Today, CWA announced that the roughly 40,000 union members along the East Coast who had been on strike for 49 days have ratified new contracts.
