New York International Auto Show
Javits Convention Center – West 34th Street & 11th Ave., New York City
April 18 through April 27, 2014
The New York International Auto Show will be in New York from Friday, April 18 through Sunday, April 27. Last year, with the support of other union affiliates in New York City, UAW- Region 9A was successful in reaching the public attending the show to draw attention to Nissan’s anti-worker position against fair elections without intimidation for workers in Mississippi and Tennessee. The Nissan workers were inspired by the support they received from the New York City labor community. After the 2013 auto show, the workers left our City filled with inspiration knowing that the labor community was standing with them in their fight for union recognition.
The Nissan workers are more determined as ever to win this fight knowing that in other countries where Nissan produces vehicles, Japan, Brazil and South Africa, the workers are unionized and have the benefit of collective bargaining. Our American brothers and sisters know they are being disrespected by Nissan. They have the support of the Japanese, Brazilian and South African autoworkers and don’t intend to give up their fight for labor rights in Mississippi and Tennessee.
The Mississippi autoworkers will be back in New York this month to get their message out again to the New York public at the NYIAS. Let’s show our support again this year by standing with the workers from the South. Solidarity is at the core of the New York labor community. We look forward to you joining us!
