Rally with Committee of Interns and Residents at Elmhurst Hospital

Committee of Interns and Residents/SEIU members at Elmhurst Hospital will hold a rally demanding patient and healthcare worker equity on Tuesday February 21, 2023 from 5 pm - 6 pm. The resident physicians at Elmhurst Hospital, who are private employees of Mount Sinai practicing medicine in a public institution, say their employer has used the Mount Sinai name for clout but has not addressed the inequities in working conditions across Mount Sinai programs. CIR members feel that the healthcare system prioritizes wealthier communities and patients while neglecting the needs of the Elmhurst physicians, many of whom are immigrants and whose working conditions directly impact care for a largely working class, people of color and immigrant patient base.
