NYCOSH Safety & Health Series: Egress and Emergency Exit Plans

Wed, Nov 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM to at 01:00 PM

When you really have to leave your workplace, can you safely do so?

In many workplaces, egress, defined as a safe path from wherever you are to outside the building, is obstructed or otherwise not so safe.  Many workplaces also lack a comprehensive emergency plan should an emergency arise, or when workers are uninformed or unprepared.  In this forum we will discuss the issue of egress and emergency plans in the workplace and what resources workers and unions have in making sure people have a safe means of exit. Our panelists have a wealth of experience with the issue and will lead a discussion on what good planning requires and how to go about making the workplace safer in an emergency.
