the 60th Anniversary of Marcantonio's death
at Woodlawn Cemetary
The commemoration of Marcantonio's death will take place at his gravesite, where he is buried next to his wife, Miriam Sanders, and nearby his mentor, Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia. The cermony will feature:
Gerald Meyer, author of Vito Marcantonio: Radical Politician, 1902-1954, will eulogize Marcantonio.
Roberto Ragone, actor and business/cultural consultant, dramatization of Vito Marcantonio speech.
Phillip Paschal, actor/director, dramatization of Paul Robeson funeral eulogy.
After the commemoration of Vito Marcantonio's life, Susan Olsen, Director of Historical Services, will conduct a tour of Woodlawn, which will visit the resting places of progressive political and cultural figures such as Herman Melville, Countee Cullen, Celia Cruz, Duke Ellington and Miles Davis.
Participants are invited to join VMF after the event at Giovanni's on the southwest corner of Grand Concourse & 150th Street.
