NYC CLC Makes Initial Endorsements in 36 Council Races

New York, NY – The New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO today announced it has made initial endorsements in 36 races for New York City Council.

“The New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO came together to endorse a set of qualified candidates in this year’s City Council elections. Over the past few months, we’ve screened candidates, discussed issues, and we have selected a slate that we feel confident will support the issues important to New York City’s working men and women,” said Vincent Alvarez, President of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO. 

“As the nation’s largest regional labor federation, our goal is simple: to support and help elevate the voices of our affiliated unions in and around New York City.  We are proud to endorse candidates who believe in supporting, protecting, and advancing the rights of union members and all working people.”

To date, the New York City Central Labor Council has made key endorsements supporting incumbents Mayor Bill de Blasio, Public Advocate Letitia James, and Comptroller Scott Stringer for re-election in 2017.
