On Saturday, members of International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, District Council 9, lent their time and labor to a good cause as part of a Community Day of Action. Union bridge painters, commercial painters, and drywall tapers donated their skills to six different non-profits across the state, helping refinish facilities either owned or operated by the groups.

The workers helped finish a Queens senior center, a Westchester school, facilities used by Boy Scouts of America, a nonprofit dedicated to children in need, and multiple groups who preserve historical parts of NYC. All in all, the painters donated work hours adding up to $80,000.

"This 2nd Annual Community Day of Action is an opportunity for DC 9 to give back to the communities our members live and work in every day," said District Council 9 Business Manager and Secretary Treasurer Joseph Azzopardi. "We're proud to be a partner and lend our skills to help out where we can."
