Workers at Vera Institute of Justice Announce Intent to Unionize
An overwhelming majority of staff at the Vera Institute of Justice have announced their intent to form a union with UAW Local 2325.
"We share this news the same day that Vera Institute of Justice management laid off 16 employees," organizers said on their Twitter account. "We condemn the layoffs and demand that management recognize our union immediately so we can bargain over job transfers and recall rights for impacted staff, as well as other protections. At Vera, we strive to end mass incarceration, protect immigrants’ rights and build safe, thriving, communities for all. As employees dedicated to this mission, we believe that Vera staff deserve a democratic, and inclusive working environment that lives up to our core values of dignity and justice for all."
