Tuesday, February 25th, 6-7:30PM: Union members and supporters will rally Tuesday at 6pm in front of the Brooklyn Museum to protest the Museum's announcement that nearly 50 employees at the Brooklyn Museum will be laid off as part of cost-cutting moves at the cultural institution. Of the 47 employees set to be terminated, 21 are members of United Auto Workers Local 2110 and 19 are members of Local 1502 of District Council 37. The new cuts follow a series of expensive events and exhibitions celebrating the museum’s 200th anniversary, including a renovated restaurant, an exhibition devoted to gold, and a rebranding campaign.

The Brooklyn Museum is threatening a mass layoff of essential staff. These members are curators, conservators, retail workers, educators, security guards and more. Stand up to the Museum’s unfair labor practices and join the rally from 6-7:30PM in front of the museum at 200 Eastern Pkwy in Brooklyn!
