Rally & March to Raise the Wage Across the Bookselling Industry
Thu, Nov 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM
Join Barnes & Noble workers as we bring together bookstore workers from across the city in a rally to boost industry standards amid contract negotiations. The company boasts about opening more stores, buying other bookstores, and increased sales, but has only offered an annual 25-cent raise. Their refusal to pay a fair wage is preventing the union from settling the contract and getting union benefits, healthcare, and protection from store closure and relocation. As the largest corporate book retailer in the city, what Barnes & Noble workers win in this contract will impact everyone in the industry. We’ll stand united to demand fair standards for everyone. Join us! November 14, 11AM at Barnes & Noble Union Square (33 East 17th Street).
And while you're waiting to rally, click here to tell Barnes & Noble CEO James Daunt and company management to come to the table and bargain with our union in good faith and reach a contract before the end of the year!
