Statement from Brendan Griffith, President of the NYC Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO in Support of Tish James
The NYC Labor Movement stands shoulder to shoulder with Attorney General Letitia James. She has spent her career defending working people, challenging abuse of power, and fighting for fairness under the law. These charges are nothing less than political retaliation against a public servant who refused to let corruption go unchecked.
When the justice system becomes a tool for revenge, every worker in this country is at risk. If a president can try to punish a statewide leader for doing her job, what happens to the rest of us who dare to speak out or demand accountability? This is an attack on democracy itself.
Attorney General James is a champion of working people. She has always protected those without power from those who would exploit it. She has taken on fraud, defended workers’ rights, and stood firmly with every New Yorker who believes in justice. She has never wavered, and neither will we.
The NYC Labor Movement does not back down from bullies. We stand with Attorney General James now, tomorrow, and every day this injustice continues.
