"The President’s Executive Order is nothing more than blatant union-busting and retaliation against dedicated federal workers for exercising their rights," said Vincent Alvarez, President of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO. "It strips hundreds of thousands of public servants of their fundamental right to collective bargaining not to improve government, but to consolidate power at workers’ expense. This is about silencing the workers who keep our country running while paving the way for a billionaire-backed takeover of our public institutions.

Federal employees—many of whom are veterans and frontline public servants here in New York City—secure our airports, protect our food and water, and provide critical services every day. Silencing them doesn’t make government more efficient; it weakens the services millions of Americans rely on. The New York City labor movement stands firmly against this attack on working people and communities. An injury to one is an injury to all, and we will fight back against any attempt to silence workers and roll back our hard-won rights."
