The Trump administration's termination of Temporary Protected Status for Haiti is an attack on workers, families, and the communities they've spent years helping to build. Haitian TPS holders including healthcare workers and many other union members here in New York City have lived and worked here legally for years and have earned the right to continue doing so with dignity. Instead, this administration is threatening them with deportation while, in effect, firing hundreds of thousands of experienced workers who keep our economy running every day. And they’re far from alone: this administration has already stripped, or moved to strip, two million people of the legal status that allowed them to live and work here lawfully. That's bad for working people, bad for our communities, and exactly the kind of politics designed to divide workers instead of addressing the real challenges facing our country. 

The New York State Nurses Association and the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO stands with Haitian TPS holders and with all of the unions fighting for the permanent protections and lasting solutions they deserve.
