TWU Local 100 Wins Pet Bereavement Leave Provision

In a novel win for workers, TWU Local 100 drivers at Big Bus Tours in Las Vegas have secured contract language allowing a one-day unpaid leave to mourn the loss of a pet. The provision, negotiated without objection from management, reflects the deep emotional bonds many workers share with their animals. “Grief is grief,” said driver and union rep Mike Garcia, whose family lost their beloved dog Lady to cancer.
