Thousands Rally, March on May Day in NYC: "We Are the Many. They Are the Few."

On Thursday, May 1, International Workers’ Day, working people around the globe took action to stand up to the billionaires who are threatening our rights and freedoms. Here at home, President Trump and Elon Musk have slashed thousands of union jobs, ripped up union contracts, illegally targeted our fellow workers from immigrant communities, cut essential services and launched an attack on our fundamental freedom to organize for a better life.
In NYC's Foley Square, workers, immigrants, tenants, parents, students, families and community members from across the five boroughs came together in solidarity, joining a nationwide day of action to demand investment in the lives of working people, not billionaires’ bank accounts. The rally's program featured voices from federal workers, immigrant communities, healthcare and civil rights advocates, and Congressmember Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and our message resounded throughout the square and into the streets—We Are the Many. They Are the Few.
Demands included:
- Stop the billionaire takeover and rampant corruption of the Trump administration.
- Stop the attack on workers’ rights, stop the mass layoffs of government workers.
- Stop the cuts to Medicaid, SNAP, Social Security, and other programs that lift up our communities.
- Fully fund schools, healthcare, and housing for all.
- Defend due process for all and stop the mass deportations and illegal detentions.
Following the rally, a crowd of thousands filled Broadway, turning the streets of Lower Manhattan into a vibrant procession as we marched downtown. Watch a livestream of the rally here, and see more photos of the rally and march here!
