The New York City Labor Movement this week celebrates Zohran Mamdani’s victory and the clear message New Yorkers have sent about the kind of city we want to build together. Our endorsement reflected his commitment to working families and a fairer economy for all through the creation of good union jobs. His people-powered campaign inspired hope and showed what’s possible when working people lead the way. We congratulate Mayor-elect Mamdani and look forward to partnering with him to turn his vision into action.

The same energy carried through every race on the ballot. From Citywide offices to all 31 endorsed City Council candidates, every single NYC CLC endorsed candidate won their race. Of these, the successful election of Labor leader and candidate Shirley Aldebol, who defeated an incumbent Council Member in the Northeast Bronx, deserves special acknowledgement. Across the five boroughs, the NYC Labor Votes! coalition mobilized hundreds of union members and contacted nearly 90,000 union households through door-to-door outreach, calls, and targeted mail, helping elect candidates who share our vision for a city that puts working families first.

Together, New York City’s unions sent a clear message that when working people stand together, we win.
