FIFA Men's World Cup Update
The 2026 Men’s World Cup has officially begun, and our region is proud to host eight matches at the NY/NJ Stadium, alongside large-scale fan activities throughout New York City. Over the last five years, the NYC CLC and approximately 20 affiliates have worked together to ensure that union labor is utilized throughout the tournament. This collective effort includes:
- Theatrical Teamsters and IATSE Stagehands: Managing the installation and build-out of fan activations.
- ATU and TWU Local 100: Transporting thousands of fans safely and efficiently via the MTA and 150 dedicated shuttle buses from NYC to the stadium.
- Independent Drivers Guild: Complementing public transit coordination through Uber, Lyft, and black car services.
- Hotel & Gaming Trades Council: Supporting the hospitality industry at unionized hotels.
- UNITE HERE Local 100: Staffing concessions at the stadium.
While the athletes shine on the pitch, this tournament also showcases the union difference on the world stage. Click here to find a union-made fan event near you!
