DCWP and WJP Distribute Checks to More Than 150 Relay Delivery Workers

On November 13, Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) Commissioner Vilda Vera Mayuga joined the Workers Justice Project (WJP) and Los Deliveristas Unidos to distribute payments to delivery workers who were harmed by Relay’s violations of the City’s Food Delivery Worker Laws. These payments were the result of a settlement with the courier service which secured $200,000 for workers who experienced violations of their right to set maximum trip distances and $20,000 in civil penalties. In addition, Relay agreed to pay its delivery workers the City’s Minimum Pay Rate of at least $21.44 an hour and reinstate any workers who were deactivated.
DCWP is proud to support delivery workers’ fight for livable wages and safety protections. If you deliver food for a third-party delivery app, learn more about your rights at nyc.gov/deliveryapps.
