The staff of The Baffler has officially formed a union with the Workers United New York New Jersey Regional Joint Board. In doing so, they join a growing number of progressive media outlets such as Harper's, Jacobin, Jewish Currents, The Nation, The New Republic, The American Prospect, and New York Focus, where workers are organizing for a voice on the job. The Baffler's management voluntarily recognized the union on the same day members filed their petition.

The workers cite a desire for fair pay, democratic participation in workplace decisions, and a respectful environment that reflects the magazine's pro-worker values. "We believe unionizing is a natural next step in the evolution of the magazine," they write, underscoring their commitment to strengthening The Baffler through collective action and solidarity.

Since its founding in 1988, The Baffler has published incisive critiques from a staunchly pro-worker perspective. Now, its workers are organizing to ensure those values are upheld internally as well. Follow the new union here!
