Alexander Gleason
Alexander Gleason is the Policy and Campaigns Director at the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO. He leads policy development and campaign strategy advancing workers’ priorities through legislative advocacy, regulatory engagement, and inter-affiliate coordination.
Alexander brings more than a decade of experience supporting labor unions and allied organizations through coordinated campaigns spanning public procurement, lobbying, communications, and strategic public affairs. His second term of service at the CLC, he spent five years working in the private sector across city, state, and federal spaces, and covered a myriad of issue areas, ranging from climate and infrastructure, health care, workforce standards, arts & entertainment publicity, and the impact of emerging and disruptive technologies.
Throughout his work, Alexander has focused on translating worker-led demands into policy outcomes and building alignment between organizing, policy, and long-term movement goals.
In addition to working in the Labor Movement, Alexander is a part-time pedagogue, who has taught economics, public policy, and climate-related courses at multiple colleges, including New York University’s Wagner School. He holds a master’s degree in economics from The New School.
