CLC Endorses Bill de Blasio for Mayor

New York, NY – New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO President Vincent Alvarez today released the following statement regarding the labor coalition’s endorsement of Bill de Blasio for mayor:

“On behalf of the 1.3 million working men and women represented by the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, we proudly endorse Bill de Blasio as our choice to be the City’s next mayor.  Bill has proven to be a tireless advocate for working New Yorkers.  He has been extremely vocal about the economic disparities that are plaguing our city, and we believe in his comprehensive plan to help improve conditions for working people.

“Whether he’s been in Brooklyn fighting unnecessary hospital closures, or standing with union members fighting for fair contracts and better wages, Bill de Blasio has solidified his position as a true advocate for working people. We will continue to mobilize our members to reach out to their fellow working people through GOTV, and other useful tools that have proven beneficial to our supported candidates during recent elections.

“Looking to November and beyond, we look forward a de Blasio administration where the needs of working people are addressed comprehensively and respectfully, and where Labor maintains a real seat at the table.  We are committed to working with Bill de Blasio to continue the fight for working New Yorkers.”
