Generous Donations Are Sending 650 Bilingual Books to the Children of Puerto Rico

In 2017, Hurricane Maria destroyed thousands of books in the public schools, and Hard Ball Press responded by donating 200 bilingual children's books to the Teachers Federation of Puerto Rico (Federación de Maestros de Puerto Rico). At our last NYC Central Labor Council Delegates Meeting, Hardball Press Editor and National Writers Union, UAW Local 1981 member Timothy Sheard asked delegates and members to consider donating to helping him send even more this year.

Thanks to 91 generous (mainly union) donors, Hard Ball Press has raised enough money to order 650 beautiful bilingual children's books for print and shipment to the Puerto Rico Teachers Federation. The books will arrive at the union offices in San Juan in mid-November. Teachers will distribute the books across the island and send photos of the children. Timothy and Hard Ball Press would like to express their thanks to all who helped make this gift possible!
