SCOTUS Rejects Request to Rehear Friedrichs v. CTA Case

This week the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) rejected a request to rehear the Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association case, which received a 4-4 ruling from the court in March of this year. The Friedrichs case was an attempt to eliminate agency fees, which would have dealt a crippling blow to public sector unions.

The ruling means that any similar lawsuits must originate in a lower court, and make their way to the SCOTUS.

The plaintiffs in this most recent case were being represented by the conservative Center for Individual Rights.
